Texas General Soil Map

Understanding your soil is key to a successful garden. This map, provided by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, gives a broad overview of soil types across Texas. Use it to get familiar with the general soil characteristics in your area, then supplement it with a simple soil test at home or through a local extension office.
